Creating Your First Song

Your song library is the heart of Cloud of Worship. Everything starts here β€” once your songs are in, planning a service takes just minutes.

Let's add your first song together! 🎡

Before You Start

You'll need:

  • Your Cloud of Worship account open
  • The song's title and artist (that's all you really need to get started)
  • Optionally: the lyrics, key, and tempo

Don't worry about having everything perfect. You can always edit and add more details later.

Step 1 β€” Go to Your Song Library

From the home screen, click Songs in the top navigation bar.

You'll see your song library β€” empty for now, but not for long!

Step 2 β€” Click "Add New Song"

Look for the + Add New Song button (usually in the top-right corner of the library page). Click it.

A form will appear asking for your song details.

Step 3 β€” Fill in the Basics

You'll see fields for:

  • Song Title β€” e.g., "Amazing Grace" (required)
  • Artist / Songwriter β€” e.g., "John Newton" (optional but helpful)
  • Key β€” e.g., "G Major" (don't stress if you're not sure β€” you can skip this)
  • Tempo / BPM β€” e.g., "72" (optional)
  • Tags β€” e.g., "hymn, traditional, slow" (helps with searching later)

Fill in the title at minimum, and you're already good to go.

Step 4 β€” Add Your Lyrics

Scroll down to the Lyrics section. You can:

  • Type or paste lyrics directly into the text editor
  • Organize by section β€” mark sections like Verse 1, Chorus, Bridge

Tip: If you're not sure about the lyrics yet, you can skip this step and come back later. The song will still be saved.

Step 5 β€” Save Your Song

Click the Save Song button at the bottom of the form.

That's it! Your song now lives in your library. πŸŽ‰

What You Can Do Next

Now that your first song is saved, here are some handy things to do:

  • Add chords β€” click the song and look for a "Chords" tab
  • Attach a recording β€” helpful for your team to learn the song
  • Add notes β€” things like "We use a capo on the 3rd fret for this one"
